The Ponderosa Lodge Bed & Breakfast : Group Retreats and Family Vacation Lodging in the New River Gorge Region, West Virginia

Nestled among the pines in the scenic New River Gorge area of West Virginia, The Ponderosa Lodge offers comfortable country style lodging at family prices. Each of our ten rental rooms has a private bath and individually controlled heating and cooling. The entire building is non smoking. All of the exciting outdoor activities that the New River Gorge National River and the Gauley River National Recreation Area are noted for, including whitewater rafting, rock climbing, horseback riding and hiking, are within easy driving distance. With accommodations for 32 people, the Lodge is ideal for large group events such as church retreats, business retreats, family reunions, weddings and anniversaries, and hunting or fishing expeditions. Conveniently located on Route 60, the Midland Trail, The Ponderosa Lodge is an easy 15 minute drive to the New River Bridge and Fayetteville, WV.

Reservations for Gauley Season are Almost Full
The Ponderosa Lodge is the ideal place for your large group to stay while rafting on the Gauley River. In the Fall, the water from Summersville Lake is released making the Gauley River one of the top ten rivers for rafting in the world. The fall release only lasts a short time, and our weekends are filling up. Get a group of friends together and stay with us while trying to brave the Gauley River. Our 10 guest rooms with private baths and 1,300 sq. ft. Great Room offers plenty of space for large groups with the convenience of staying in one building. Kitchen privileges are available for an additional cost when reserving the whole lodge.

New Changes for 2009
This year has brought many upgrades and changes to The Ponderosa Lodge. We have completed a major renovation of the kitchen and dining area making it a lot more fun and functional for groups to entertain and cook together. Additionally, cell phone coverage is now available for most providers and soon the lodge will be Wi-Fi accessible. In our efforts to become more sustainable, we planted a garden, berry bushes and an orchard in 2008 and have 31 hens which provide us with eggs. Look for more updates in our upcoming Garden Journal. Finally, we have added two new members to our family: Liam and Hope the bulldog.
