Our Lodge
Located on 16 private acres near the New River Gorge National Park, The Ponderosa Lodge is West Virginia’s premiere space for large groups, such as church retreats, corporate retreats and family reunions. The open floor plan kitchen, dining room, and great room provide plenty of space for large groups to visit and socialize. Additionally, the large game room contains ping pong, axe throwing, puzzles, and games for additional relaxation and entertainment. The large covered deck has ample seating for groups to meet outside when the weather is pleasant.
Meals in the dining room: Our spacious kitchen is fully equipped with everything your group will need to prepare meals, while our open dining room offers seating for 32 guests. If you wish, you may purchase fresh produce from our farm for your group. Check with us when you arrive to find out what is available.

Meet Our Family
Meet (from left to right) Liam, Jorene, Bella and Ken. Aside from operating the Lodge, Jorene and Ken are still in the middle of distinguished careers in the military. Though only a teenager, Liam is already an accomplished musician.
And Bella is a dog.
History of The Ponderosa Lodge
Built in the late 1960’s, The Ponderosa Lodge was originally operated as a zoo. Many local residents remember coming here as kids and feeding the deer or bears. The animal mounts in our great room all resided in the zoo during the 1960s and 1970s. Today, you can feed the farm animals, sit on the front porch, or hike the trails to see many wild animals, including deer, turkey, bear, and birds of all kinds.
