Things To Do

Around the Area

They don’t call the New River Gorge area the Land of Adventure for no reason! From hiking, shopping, dining, rafting, climbing, skiing, hunting and so much more… there really is an adventure for everybody. Here are a few of our favorites.

Whitewater Rafting

Whether you need whitewater rafting that is kid friendly, or you’re looking for something more extreme, this area has it in spades. Adventures on the Gorge also offers several zipline tours, paintball and A LOT more.

The New River Gorge National Park & Preserve

America’s newest National Park has wonderful hiking and mountain biking, not to mention a bunch of stunning views that don’t require any real physical ability to get to. Pictured is Bridge Walk, one of the most quintessentially New River Gorge things you can do.

Explore WV State Parks

Babcock State Park is just around the corner, but it doesn’t stop there. Hawk’s Nest State Park and Summersville Lake State Park are also in the local vicinity.

Fayetteville, WV

Consistently voted one of America’s coolest small towns, Fayetteville has a friendly, funky vibe overflowing with mom-and-pop restaurants and shops. There’s even a truly world-class escape room.

Summersville Lake

With more than 60 miles of shoreline, much of it sheer cliff, Summersville Lake is unique in America. You can visit via Summersville Lake State Park, but we also recommend renting a kayak or SUP to explore it on your own.

Meadow River Rail Trail

Running approximately 20 miles from Rainelle to Nallen, WV, the MRRT is wide and graveled with only the slightest of gradients. It’s perfect for walking and biking, and it’s open only for non-motorized recreation. We expect the entire length of the trail to be open soon!
