History of The Ponderosa Lodge Built in the late 1960's, The Ponderosa Lodge was originally operated as a zoo. Many local residents remember coming here as kids and feeding the deer or bears. The animal mounts in our great room all resided in the zoo during the 1960s and 1970s. Today, you can feed the farm animals, sit on the front porch, or hike the trails to see many wild animals, including deer, turkey, bear, and birds of all kinds.
